Galaxy and Observatory   -  By: Babak A. Tafreshi

The Milky Way appears over the European Southern Observatory (ESO) 3.6-metre telescope on La Silla, southern Atacama Desert, Chile. In the sky are constellations Scorpius and Sagittarius toward the galactic bright central bulge. Bright star Antares at the Scorpion's heart is on the upper left and the Lagoon Nebula (M8) is on the left next to the Large Sagittarius Star Cloud (the brighter region of the Milky Way). The cloud is almost pointed toward the galactic center.
