Stars above large telescopes on Maunakea volcano (4205m or 13800ft high) on the Big Island of Hawaii. The twin Keck telescopes in Hawaii (each 10 meters in aperture) beam lasers to the atmosphere for adaptive optics operation. The Japanese Subaru 8-meter telescope is on the left.
