The Galaxy in the Earth Sky - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
The Milky Way in the morning twilight from altitude of over 5,000 meters on Chajnantor Plateau in the Chilean Andes. The bright central bulge of the galaxy in the constellations Scorpius and Sagittarius is in the middle. Bright yellow-red star Antares marks the Scorpion's heart. On the right two other bright stars are visible, the Alpha and Beta Centauri. Further right is the Southern Cross and the Coalsack dark nebula.
