Stargazers in Nepal   -  By: Babak A. Tafreshi

In November 2009 based on collaboration with Nepal Astronomical Society and its highly motivated young amateur astronomers, The World at Night photographers Babak Tafreshi and Oshin Zakarian traveled to Nepal. A highlight of the trip was a public starparty in the World Heritage Site of Bhaktapur. Hundreds of local people gathered in the central square surrounded by dozens of amazing temples, to view the Moon and Jupiter for their first time through a telescope, a country with very few sizable telescopes in the hand of amateur astronomers. See this photo report of the trip, from Kathmandu to starry nights of Himalayas.
