Jupiter and the Galilean Moons   -  By: Babak Tafreshi & P-M Heden

Using a telephoto lens the 4 major satellites of Jupiter, known as the Galilean Moons, are resolved in this single exposure image. The 4th magnitude star Iota Capricorni was in conjunction with Jupiter at only 20 arc minutes away on this evening. The pictured photographer is standing on one of the ancient hills known as Gamla Uppsala (Old Uppsala) which are home of several pre-Viking burial king mounds.
