Twisted Meteor Paths   -  By: Babak A. Tafreshi

Why these meteors, captured in 3 different continents show zig-zag path in the sky? Are they caused by camera vibration or they represent the actual path of the meteor in the Earth atmosphere? There are many more samples of such meteor paths, captured in different imaging conditions that clarifies they are not related to camera vibration. With the higher resolution digital cameras today its easier to resolve them specially in telephoto images (such as the very lucky shot in the middle with 400mm lens that shows both a comet and a highly resolved wambling meteor." The left image shows Mt Kilimanjaro from the border of Kenya and Tanzania and the right shot is from La Silla observatory in Chile.
