Babak A. Tafreshi was born in 1978 in Tehran. He is a photographer and science journalist, the founder and director of The World At Night (TWAN) international photography project, also a board member of Astronomers Without Borders. Tafreshi received the 2009 Lennart Nilsson Award, the world's most recognized award for scientific photography, for his global contribution to night sky photography. From 1997 to 2007 Tafreshi was an editor of the Astronomy Magazine of Iran (Nojum). He served as the editor-in-chief for several years too. He has appeared many times on television and radio programs on astronomy and has met and interviewed many world-renowned astronomers and space scientists. He has been a board member of the Astronomical Society of Iran's Amateur Committee from 2001 and has organized many national astronomy events, including Iran's annual national Messier Marathon. Through The World at Night, which was designated as the first Special Project of International Year of Astronomy 2009, Tafreshi cooperated with the International Astronomical Union and UNESCO as one of the project coordinators for IYA2009.
Tafreshi is a professional photographer specializing in images of the night sky with foregrounds of natural landscapes and historic architecture. He has always been fascinated by the universality of the night sky, with the same sky appearing above a variety of landscapes around the world. His work has been exhibited in several countries and has appeared in international magazines and websites. He communicates with world-wide astronomy community through science journalism and his TWAN trips and imaging workshops in various countries, and he regularly gives presentations during his expeditions to solar eclipses observing sites. Astronomy and TWAN imaging has taken him to all of the continents including Antarctica.

Oshin D. Zakarian was born in 1977 in Tehran, Iran. His career in photography in general and astrophotography in particular began in 1992. His main interest in photography is to capture Nature and History of the country at night along with astronomical events. He thinks that a strong emotional connection with nature helps a photographer to produce much more deep impact in a photograph. He captures different monuments of different cultures all under the same starry sky.

He loves first light and the last light in nature and waits for the best moment to capture a specific image. He uses two Olympus bodies along a wide selection of lenses from 24mm to 300mm.
His favorite films are Fuji Superia negatives (100, 400, 800, 1600), Fujichrome Velvia 50 slide and Kodak E100VS .From 1993 he began his contribution to Iranian Astronomy magazine ( NOJUM ). His photos have appeared in America's well known astronomy magazines, Sky&Telescope, Astronomy and Mercury.
His deep interest in astronomy combined with his love of nature, led him to a world of discovery and adventure; from photographing a lunar eclipse at Pasargad ( the remnants of the first empire of Achemenian empire in Persia back to 2500 years ago ) to shooting star trails in remote hard to access locations in mountains or deserts.
He loves shooting lonely trees along with star trails. In his imagination, the tree branches are just like the hand of a human, stretched to reach the stars. The root of the tree is connecting the Heaven with earth. When he photographs a historical monument at night along with stars, he can feel the time passage, the time that has passed since that monument was built.
Photographing the old building at night with starry sky gives a special kind of serene, out of
this world look to earth's cultural heritages. Oshin's photos are published regularly in Iran's different publications and calendars. Most of the time, when the weather is nice for photography, hardly anyone can find him in city.
